A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME

When I’m not writing, I love spending time with my family. I’m married to my best friend and together we have four wonderful sons and two fur babies. We love to work in the yard together when the Oklahoma weather allows. I work in a flower garden while my husband takes care of the trees and shrubs. I also enjoy dabbling with painting, mainly watercolor. 

Spending time reading together is very important to us. We read the Bible together in the mornings and we also read aloud various children’s stories to our sons in the evenings. Our older two love to hear adventurous stories like The Lord of the Rings, Treasure Island, Swiss Family Robinson, Sherlock Holmes and the like, while the younger two still enjoy picture books like The Seven Silly Eaters, Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site, The Little Blue Truck, and The Bear and Friends Series. I’m working on making a list of some favorites that I would recommend if you also enjoy reading to little ones or want to get started! 

Reading Magic, by Mem Fox, helped fuel my passion for children’s literacy. In it she shares her experience with teaching children to love reading, and she also highlights the importance of reading with our children. It is very enjoyable to listen to on audio. I hope you’ll check it out! 

I’m very excited to be able join our church’s tutoring ministry this fall to help local youth with their literacy and math skills.
